The WTGL team adds to CPV’s portfolio of sports investments, which include TGL’s New York Golf Club, PGA TOUR Enterprises, and the New York Mets Major League Baseball Club.
“We’re excited to be a founding team in WTGL at a moment when women’s golf is growing in visibility,” said Cohen. “TGL has been a real success. It’s fast-paced, tech-forward, and competitive. It connects more fans with the sport. We think WTGL can do the same for women’s golf, bringing the game to a broader audience and expanding its reach. We’re proud to build out a world-class women’s team that represents the best of New York.”
“WTGL represents a compelling opportunity at the intersection of sports, media and technology, and we have seen firsthand how TGL’s innovative format resonates with fans and partners,” said Andrew B. Cohen, Chief Investment Officer and Co-Founder of Cohen Private Ventures. “We believe in the continued growth of women’s sports and are proud to support a platform that will showcase elite LPGA talent while building a durable team in the New York market.”
“We have also seen through our other golf investments the surge in the game’s popularity among women and girls,” said Terri Oronzio, Co-Head of Family Office Investments at Cohen Private Ventures and Governor for the NYGC WTGL team. “Women’s sports have experienced impressive growth in recent years, and we are proud to partner with TMRW Sports to back the best women’s golfers in the world and help sustain that momentum as a founding WTGL team.”
Preparing for its inaugural season this fall, WTGL will feature fast-paced team match play at the purpose-built SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. WTGL builds on the momentum of TGL presented by SoFi, the primetime team golf league founded by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Mike McCarley, which debuted in 2025 and now reaches fans in more than 150 countries and territories.
“Steve Cohen and Cohen Private Ventures bring a deep understanding of the New York sports market and a shared belief in the momentum behind women’s sports,” said Mike McCarley, founder and CEO of TMRW Sports. “We’ve been impressed by the way Steve, Andy, Terri and the CPV team have approached New York Golf Club and helped build the foundation for TGL. That same ambition and market-building experience will be incredibly valuable as WTGL establishes itself as a premier new platform for women’s team golf. Adding another world-class ownership group is a meaningful step in building a global platform for LPGA stars and a new generation of fans.”
WTGL previously announced Arthur M. Blank and AMB Sports and Entertainment and Alexis Ohanian with Los Angeles Golf Club as WTGL’s first two ownership groups, along with Alex Morgan’s Trybe Ventures as the league’s lead capital partner.
WTGL’s current roster includes 14 committed players, featuring a talented, diverse mix of major champions, Olympians, Solheim Cup players and top LPGA stars, including Celine Boutier, Brooke Henderson, Charley Hull, Danielle Kang, Megan Khang, Lydia Ko, Andrea Lee, Minjee Lee, Jeeno Thitikul, Lexi Thompson, Albane Valenzuela, Michelle Wie West, Lottie Woad and Rose Zhang.
The group includes five of the current top 11 players in the world and has combined for 95 LPGA Tour victories. More players are expected to be added as the inaugural WTGL season approaches.
Additional details on WTGL, including team ownership groups, rosters, media partners, and sponsors will be announced in the coming months.
